Life of Elder Onyebuchi Nwoke
Elder Onyebuchi Nwoke, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and dedicated community member, peacefully passed away on June 9, 2026 – at the age of 88. He was born on October 13, 1937 into the family of a polygamous Warrant Chief – Nwokeohuru Onyekwere. Among the many wives of Warrant Chief – Nwokeohuru Onyekwere was his mother Ihuoma Nwokeohuru who had four children (Chijioke, Nnenna, Nzenwanyi and Onyebuchi).
Elder Onyebuchi Nwoke was married to Rev. Ihedinma Margaret Nwoke (daughter of Chief Nwoke-Ekpo from Umuawa Alaocha in Ohuhu North Local Government of Abia State). They met in the University in 1964 as undergraduates and after graduation got married on December 23rd, 1972 at the Methodist Church, Amachara. Their union was blessed with three sons and three daughters, all of whom are intelligent and brilliant individuals. Their first child is Odochi Nwoke, followed by a son Dr. Kelechi Nwoke. Subsequently, another son Engr. Okezika Nwoke, followed by a third son Dr. Chikara Nwoke, and then twin daughters Ihuoma Nwoke and Oluchi Nwoke. All his children are from various academic disciplines of Accountancy, Engineering, Dentistry while the twins studied Finance at the University of Maryland, USA.
Elder Onyebuchi Nwoke demonstrated exceptional academic prowess, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. Professionally, he embarked on a distinguished career in the field of Business Administration. His success led him and his business partners to establish Utility Freight Nigeria Ltd., a cargo and freight company specializing in clearing and forwarding of diverse logistical services, including imports and exports (both sea and air) and other transit cargos. He was widely regarded for his trustworthiness in matters of financial significance, confidentiality, and the responsible handling of others’ property.
In retirement, he became a loving grandparent to Oziomasinachi, Munachiso, Sochikaima, Chinwe and Chiekezika. He also devoted his time to his passion for the outdoors, frequently spending weekends tending to his cultivated vegetables and fostering a deep appreciation for nature. He actively participated in various charitable causes and church programs, leaving a lasting positive impact on his community.
